San Francisco In Film

San Francisco narrowly missed becoming the film capital of the world. Perhaps it’s just as well. The city has enough narcissism and other “isms” without being Hollywood by the Bay. Nevertheless, San Francisco, in fact, most of the Northern California Bay Area, has had a long love affair with the movies. Many moviemakers and movie stars live and work in the area. Among these are George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, the late Saul Zaentz, Phil Kaufman, John Korty, Sean Penn, Robert Redford (we are told he has a residence in Marin County), and the late Robin Williams. You can find here some examples of movies shut in the region.
